Fox killings prompt outcry, ecologists demand investigation

Relevant News

Reports received by the Ecologists Movement from citizens have stirred “disgust and horror” over an incident involving the killing of animals in the Kotsiatis area.

According to a statement by the Ecologists Movement, the complaint pertains to foxes found dead on Sunday in the mentioned area.

They note that both the Police and the Game and Fauna Service have been informed about the incident.

“The Game and Fauna Service, in turn, visited the site, collected the murdered animals, and transported them to veterinary services for autopsy.”

The Ecologists Movement claims, based on photographic evidence, that the killing of the foxes occurred at a different location, with the bodies gathered and stacked in another location as trophies afterwards.

“These unacceptable criminal behaviours will no longer be tolerated by society. We demand an investigation into the incident and an effort to find those responsible. Simultaneously, we call on the Game and Fauna Service to conduct more frequent checks to prevent similar incidents. We remind everyone that fox hunting is illegal and punishable by fines up to €2000.”

Additionally, the Action Group of the Movement appeals to any citizen witnessing the illegal killing of foxes to immediately contact the Game and Fauna Service or the Police.

“These images and horrifying incidents against defenseless animals bring no credit to any civilized and European state. We demand respect for animals, and the state must ensure their well-being. With such behaviors, we seem to be far from civilization,” the party’s statement concludes.
