Cyprus to receive Palestinian foreign minister

Relevant News

In a statement to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) on Friday, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis revealed that the humanitarian corridor’s design, from the outset, included an unidirectional maritime route for delivering humanitarian aid, ultimately destined for the civilian population of Gaza.

Additionally, he announced an upcoming visit by the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs to Cyprus.

Responding to concerns raised by Palestinian officials about the transportation of residents from the Gaza Strip via ships carrying humanitarian aid, as reported by CNA, Letymbiotis emphasized that since the inception of the plan, both the President of the Republic and the Minister of Foreign Affairs have engaged in meetings with members of the Palestinian Authority leadership to present the initiative.

He also recalled the visit of Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos to Ramallah last October, specifically to discuss the situation in the region and address the initiative, which takes into account the concerns of the Palestinian Authority.

Letymbiotis reiterated that the humanitarian corridor’s design, from the beginning, envisioned a unidirectional maritime route for providing humanitarian aid, with the civilian population of Gaza as its final destination.

Furthermore, he noted that an upcoming visit by the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs to Cyprus is imminent, although a specific date has not yet been determined.
