Cyprus ranked third in the European Union for deportations of third-country nationals in 2023, according to Eurostat data.
Over 7,775 individuals were ordered to leave Cyprus, contributing to a total of 484,160 such cases across the EU, a 4% increase compared to 2022.
Deportations also rose significantly, with 111,185 individuals returning to another country, up 25% from 2022.
France had the highest number of deportations (10,625), followed by Germany (10,290) and Cyprus.
Georgians topped the list of deported non-EU citizens (10,345), followed by Albanians (7,810) and Turks (5,595).
Eurostat data also revealed a decrease in the number of people denied entry into the EU (118,935) compared to 2022 (142,420).
However, the number of people found illegally present in the EU increased by 13% to 1.27 million.
