Cyprus: E-justice soon, electronic identity/signature in effect within 2024

E-justice will soon be fully operational while the electronic identity and electronic signature in Cyprus is to come into effect within 2024, according to deputy minister of innovation Philippos Hadjizacharias.

Presenting the deputy ministry’s 2024 budget before the House Finance Committee on Monday, he also said that a total of 87 projects are currently in progress.

Of the 87 projects, 40 are being implemented under the EU-funded Recovery and Resilience Plan and 47 are outside that umbrella.

Hadjizacharias also said that the overall expenditure for these projects is estimated at €160.5 million, up from €119.6 million approved last year. That is, there is an increase of €40.8 million.

The deputy minister’s goal in relation to the digitisation of the state is to integrate technology into all services.

So that citizens get to benefit from a state service from their computer or mobile phone, as well as be able to monitor the progress of their applications etc.

Regarding cyber security, the Deputy Minister noted that there is a special action plan and that they will proceed with the staffing of 21 experts in the Cyber Security Directorate.

At the moment, 32 special sensors have been installed at critical infrastructure of the state.
