COVID, flu vaccination rates rise in January

Relevant News

There has been a noticeable uptick in the rate of vaccinations for both COVID-19 and the flu throughout January, Evagoras Tambouris, the Deputy Director of Nursing Services told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).

Tambouris revealed that, to date, vaccinations have reached 27,650 for COVID-19 and 114,572 for influenza.

He highlighted that the surge in vaccination numbers was particularly evident in January, following the holiday season.

On average, Tambouris pointed out, the daily foot traffic at vaccination sites has been between 700 and 800 individuals.

“The figures have indeed shown a significant increase; we could have seen higher numbers, but reaching 27,650 vaccinations is still a positive development,” he stated.

Tambouris highlighted the importance of seeking medical advice regarding vaccinations during the colder months.

He advised, “For those who choose not to get vaccinated, it’s crucial to adhere to sanitary measures, including frequent handwashing and wearing masks in enclosed or crowded spaces.”

Furthermore, he reminded everyone that vaccination centers in urban areas are open daily for convenience.
