Court convenes for Cholaraka case

Relevant News

Today, the trial of the individuals charged for the serious violence in Chloraka last August will continue.

In August, a protest against immigration escalated into physical violence against migrant residents of Cholaraka and their private property, leading to injuries, destruction of property and widespread intimidation.

During the trial on December 19th, one of the defendants admitted guilt, and the court imposed a fine of 600 euros.

The remaining defendants do not admit guilt, and the case has been scheduled for today, while another three individuals who were also arrested for the incidents pleaded not guilty, and their case is set for a hearing on March 6.

The charges most of them face include rioting and illegal possession of offensive weapons.

All of them have conditions imposed which ensure their presence at the trial.

For the same incidents, the court had already imposed penalties on four individuals in the past months.

In the trial of the 17 defendants for their involvement in the incidents of those days, specific penalties, including fines and suspended imprisonment, were imposed.
