The President of the Republic, Nicos Christodoulides, visited Israel last night and met with the President and the Prime Minister of the country.
The President stressed Nicosia’s support and conveyed messages on the need to de-escalate the crisis and continue humanitarian assistance in Gaza.
At the same time, the President stressed once again the need to avoid civilian casualties on all sides and to start a political dialogue that will lead to the creation of a horizon for a Middle East solution.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog stressed the ties and sincere friendship that unite the two countries and the fact that even in these critical times, Israel and Cyprus are standing together.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked the President for his strong support. He said that President Christodoulides was visiting Israel at a time when there was a battle between civilization and barbarism.
He stressed that what the communities of Israel have experienced is the worst kind of atrocities against Jews since the Holocaust. They murdered, he said, children in front of their parents and parents in front of their children, burned people alive and raped them.
