The Republic’s radars detected two boats in the maritime area of Cape Greco carrying 141 people: 92 men, 12 women, 25 children, and 12 unaccompanied minors.
Coast Guard and Navy vessels rushed to the maritime area where the two boats were located.
The 138 individuals, who are refugees from Syria, one man from Lebanon, and one man and one woman from Palestine, boarded Coast Guard and Navy vessels and were safely transported to Larnaca port where their details were recorded.
They reported that they had departed from Lebanon on April 11 after previously paying $3,000-$3,500 to an unknown person.
They were transferred to the Temporary Reception Centre for Migrants in Pournara, Kokkinotrimithia.
