Members of the Police (Anti-Smuggling Unit of the CID), while on a motorized patrol in an area in the Nicosia district yesterday afternoon, spotted a suspicious car moving with its headlights off.
The said car was stopped for inspection and it was found to be driven by a 41-year-old man.
Upon conducting a search inside the car, a quantity of packaged meat (beef) weighing approximately 500 kilograms was discovered.
At the same time, a second police patrol located and intercepted another car in the area, also driving with its lights off, with a 31-year-old man as the responsible driver.
Following a search, a large sum of money intended, according to the individual, for purchasing meat from the 41-year-old, was found in the possession of the 31-year-old.
Against both of the aforementioned individuals, judicial warrants were issued, and they were arrested to facilitate further investigations.
The Perachorio Police Station continues the examinations.
