Within just 24 hours, another fatal traffic accident took place in the Limassol province.

A 36-year-old motorcyclist, Sviatoslav Suprun, a permanent resident of Cyprus, died on Christmas Eve as he crashed within the roundabout of Polemidia.

The Ukrainian national leaves behind a spouse and a 10-year-old son.

“At 3:30 AM today, a 36-year-old resident of the Limassol province, riding a high-cylinder motorcycle on the bypass road of Limassol in an eastward direction, seems to have failed to observe the correct passage of the road under conditions being investigated, proceeding straight before the Polemidia roundabout,” said Marios Charalambous, head of Limassol traffic police.

According to Charalambous, the motorcyclist initially collided with the constructed road divider before the roundabout, and after being dragged for some distance, came to rest within the centre of the Polemidia roundabout, where the motorcycle overturned and became immobilised.

According to initial examinations, the 36-year-old motorcyclist was wearing a protective helmet.

An ambulance arrived at the scene, transporting the victim to Limassol General Hospital, where his death was confirmed.

When questioned about the speed of the motorcyclist, Charalambous stated that the circumstances of the fatal incident are under investigation.

There are no eyewitness accounts of the motorcyclist’s speed, but it remains a subject of inquiry.
