The police arrested a 29-year-old yesterday afternoon to assist with inquiries into an attempted murder case that occurred in Nicosia on January 29, 2023.
The 29-year-old was found around 4 p.m. yesterday on a road in Famagusta district by members of the Famagusta District Police Department.
He was stopped for a check, during which it was discovered that there was a pending arrest warrant against him for attempted murder. He was arrested and placed in custody to facilitate further investigation.
The attempted murder took place in the early hours of January 29, 2023, at a nightclub in Nicosia. According to the information under examination, around 3 a.m., a 24-year-old patron of the club had a dispute with another patron who allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the 24-year-old in the abdomen.
A 38-year-old security guard at the establishment approached the two men to intervene, but the alleged perpetrator is said to have stabbed him in the chest with a knife and fled.
A 30-year-old is still being sought in connection with the same case, for whom there is a pending arrest warrant to assist with the investigation.
The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the case.
