The Geroskipou Medical Center, especially its Mammography Center, is embraced to a significant extent by the population of the Paphos province.
This was emphasized by officials from the Ministry of Health to Phileleftheros on the occasion of the completion of three months since the full operation of the center, as until October 5, only the Mammography Center was operational.
In particular, they highlight that the very intense interest of women to take advantage of the benefits offered by such a facility in Paphos creates satisfaction among the authorities and the creators of the project.
Hundreds of appointments have been fulfilled, and many more than planned during this initial period of the unit’s operation, they emphasized.
As known, the Geroskipou Medical Center “Christoforos Hatzilambri” is located on Neofytos Hatzilambri Street, just a few meters from the Koloni roundabout.
It bears the name of the Geroskipou resident who donated the land for its construction, costing 2.5 million euros, which was paid 4/5 by the State and 1/5 by the municipal authority.
Since October 5, the unit has been operating with medical staff, outpatient clinics staffed with three rotating pathologists, cardiologists, orthopedists, and a pediatrician, a dental clinic, a blood collection center, a laboratory, and a pharmacy.
It also has a doctor for mental health issues, while first aid incidents are served for primary examination.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Health invites all women aged 45-74 to participate again in the Population Control Program for Breast Cancer Detection. Mammography is offered for free and will be repeated every two years.
