A 37 year old man was remanded in police custody for six days as police investigate a case of assault, causing serious bodily harm and exercising psychological violence.
The man, a Limassol resident, reportedly hit his 42 year old partner and then called police to come quickly because she needed to be taken to hospital urgently.
Police who went to their home found the woman lying on the bed, bruised and bleeding.
During questioning the man admitted to hitting her, allegedly because she had bothered his mother on the telephone. The woman said she had fallen down the stairs.
She was taken to Limassol hospital by ambulance where doctors diagnosed multiple bruises on her face, abrasions on the shoulder, a broken nose and broken ribs.
