Less chilly with local showers and light snowfall in mountains

Tuesday will be partly cloudy and at intervals cloudy with local light showers and light snowfall in the mountains.

The day will feel less chilly than recent days as the cold air mass recedes, with temperatures at 13 C inland, around 15 C on the coast and 6 C in the higher Troodos peaks.

In the morning there will be frost in the mountains and early in the morning also at lower altitudes.

Tonight will be partly cloudy and at intervals cloudy, with possible light showers and at intervals light snowfall in the higher Troodos peaks.

Temperatures will fall to 3 C inland, around 8 C on the west coast, around 6 C on the remaining coasts and -1 in the higher Troodos peaks.

Wednesday and Thursday will be partly cloudy and at intervals cloudy with local light showers and light snowfall or sleet at intervals in the higher Troodos peaks.

Friday will be mainly cloudy.

Temperatures will edge up on Wednesday, mainly inland and in the mountains to close to the seasonal average, remaining at the same levels on Thursday and Friday.

The depth of snow at Troodos Square at the time of issue of the early morning weather bulletin was 66 cm.

Roads are slippery in the mountains because of ice. All roads to Troodos are open, police said.

Drivers are urged to be particularly careful, to drive slowly and keep a safe distance from other vehicles and give priority to other drivers where necessary.

Because the situation on the roads, particularly in the mountains, is constantly changing because of the weather, drivers are urged to stay up dated  on conditions from the police’s app or website.
