Following the success in November of Latsia Municipality’s “Come with your shovel” event, officials have announced a second edition called “Come with your shovel, again” to take place on Saturday, February 22 at 9.30 am at Latsia’s Apalos Hill — the same location as the original event.
The first event saw the planting of 2,500 trees by volunteers, and organisers said that a total of 50,000 trees need to be planted on Apalos Hill.
Companies and other entities have moved to support the initiative’s 2nd edition by donating trees and other necessities for Saturday’s event.
Among the donors are the University of Cyprus that donated 500 carob trees to Latsia Municipality, and company Vassos Eliades Ltd that gifted 500 Cypriot trees and committed to supplying another 500 in the next five years together with ecological fertiliser to cover their needs.
