Larnaca: Drunk taxi driver collides with police patrol car

A 40 year old taxi driver who crashed into two cars — one of them a police patrol car –tested positive for drunk driving and was arrested, philenews reports.

It said that incident occurred at around 11 pm on Tuesday night near the Sklavenitis lights on Spyros Kyprianou Avenue in Larnaca.

The alco-test gave a result of 171 ml — nine times the legal limit of 9 ml.

He was arrested and will appear before Larnaca district court today to be charged, Larnaca traffic chief Harris Hadjiyiasemi told the site.

Philenews said that a police officer sustained minor injuries.

Also on Tuesday night on the same avenue, police booked two young women drivers aged 18 and 19 for speeding and they too have been referred to court.
