Labour inspectors yesterday closed down three construction sites after carrying out 67 checks on compliance with decrees to contain the spread of coronavirus.
In an announcement, they said 448 inspections were also carried out at retail trade establishments where they found a very high level of compliance.
As regards construction sites, the inspectors found an improved level of compliance. Some construction sites in Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca did not have the required sanitary facilities nor were distancing rules being adhered to. Three sites were closed down and a person in charge of a construction side was fined.
Labour inspectors said they would continue their checks and where necessary would impose out of court fines, prosecute or order an immediate interruption of work.
