The trade deficit in Cyprus recorded an increase of 453 million euro in the first 11 months of 2019, compared to the same period in 2018.
The trade deficit was €4,652.3 million in January-November 2019 compared to €4,199.1 million in the corresponding period of 2018.
According to data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus, total imports (covering total imports from third countries and from EU Member States) in January-November 2019 amounted to €7,528.6 m as compared to €8,341.5 mn in January-November 2018.
Total exports (covering total exports to third countries and to EU Member States) in January-November 2019 were €2,876.3 m compared to €4,142.4 m in January-November 2018.
Total imports in January-November 2019 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of €960 m as compared to €1,541.8 m in January-November 2018.
Total exports in January-November 2019 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of €893.7 m as compared to €1,439.4 m in January-November 2018.
In addition, during November 2019 total imports (covering total imports from third countries and from EU Member States) valued at €659.8 m compared to €974.3 m in November 2018.
Total exports (covering total exports to third countries and to EU Member States), including stores and provisions, in November 2019 amounted to €233.7 m compared to €209.4 m in November 2018.
Exports of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions in November 2019 were €97.9 m compared to €85.1 m in November 2018 whilst exports of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, in November 2019 were €135.8 m compared to €124.3 m in November 2018.
Total domestic exports of industrial products in November 2019 were €89.3 m compared to €76.4 m in November 2018. Total domestic exports of agricultural products in November 2019 were €6.5 m compared to €5.9 m in November 2018.
