Tourism revenue up 2.9% in April, down 1.9% for January-April

Tourism revenue in April rose to €186.6 m, a 2.9% increase over the corresponding month of the previous year, the Cyprus Statistical Office said on Friday.

But for the period of January – April 2019 revenue from tourism fell to an estimated €375.2 m compared to €382.5 m in the corresponding period of 2018, down 1.9%.

Expenditure per person for April 2019 reached €566.60 compared to €577.39 in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording a decrease of 1.9%.

The expenditure per person/per day for April 2019 compared to April 2018 also recorded a decrease of 0.6% (from €71.28 to €70.83). A decrease of 1.2% was recorded in the average length of stay, from 8.1 days in April 2018 to 8.0 days in April 2019.

The expenditure per person for the period of January – April 2019 reached €546.32 compared to €559.54 in the corresponding period of the previous year, recording a decrease of 2.4%.

The expenditure per person/per day for the period of January – April 2019 compared to the period of January – April 2018 remained almost unchanged (from €66.61 to €66.62).
