Recently proposals to expand the plan supporting domestic tourism as a measure to deal with the consequences for the losses from the Russian and Ukrainian market, have increased. A specific proposal was submitted by PEO trade union during a recent meeting of the Advisory Finance Committee and other social partners also agreed.
The Deputy Tourism Ministry is also considering the issue since the plan that is currently in place will end at the end of March.
Filokypros Rousounides, president of the hoteliers’ union, agreed that the plan to support domestic tourism would help the industry up to a point but noted that other actions are also needed.
