The number of registered unemployed fell by 4,453 persons in February, marking an annual 13% drop, according to District Labour Offices data released by the Statistical Service on Tuesday.
In comparison with February 2018, the decrease was mainly observed in the sectors of trade (a decrease of 1,051 unemployed persons), public administration (a decrease of 592), construction (a decrease of 508), manufacturing (a decrease of 389), accommodation and food service activities (a decrease of 373), professional, scientific and technical activities (a decrease of 166) and to newcomers in the labour market (a decrease of 1,473).
The unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of February 2019 was 29,751 persons. Based on the seasonally adjusted data that show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for February 2019 decreased to 23,955 persons in comparison to 24,279 in the previous month.
