Herodotou appointed new Central Bank governor

President Nicos Anastasiades on Thursday appointed Constantinos Herodotou as new governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus.

He will replace Chrystalla Georghadji whose term expires in April.

Herodotou has served as executive director of the Central Bank and member of its board of directors since March 2017. Before that he was privatisation commissioner, a position he was appointed to in June 2014.

Herodotou has wide experience in senior positions in the banking sector in London and Paris. He studied economics at University College London and holds an MBA from London Business School.

Herodotou will take up his duties once Georghadji’s term expires on April 11, 2019.

In an announcement, the president thanked Georghadji for her services during critical days for the economy.
