Dismissed Tesla employee shares hardship

Relevant News

The story of one of Tesla’s 14,000 employees that the company laid off has surfaced.

This concerns Nico Murillo, who started working at Tesla’s Fremont factory in California in 2019, initially as a production associate, but quickly began to climb the corporate ladder, as described in his LinkedIn profile.

In fact, in 2020, he was promoted to the position of Lead Production Associate, and in 2021, he became a Production Supervisor. However, he was dismissed abruptly last week.

For Murillo, everything started on Monday, April 15th, when he discovered that his corporate account had been deactivated. An email had arrived at his corporate email stating that his “collaboration” with Tesla was terminated.

Nevertheless, he decided to go to the factory as usual, where the security guard denied him entry and took away his employee card.

Living in the car Murillo’s story is remarkable as he stated: “I sacrificed a lot for the company. Sometimes I slept in my car on weekdays and after working 12 to 13 hours, to avoid commuting and to be close to my work. I would take a shower at the factory, eat something, and sleep in the parking lot,” Mr. Murillo wrote.

This particular post on social media triggered an outpouring of sympathy towards Murillo, with another former Tesla employee sharing a similar experience, having given everything to the company only to be dismissed.

As he states, “After 17 years at the company and just 1 year before retirement, the headquarters in Utah called me to inform me that my position was no longer available and that I had to leave the building immediately.”

Regarding Murillo’s future, he states that he plans to continue living in his car, a Tesla Model Y, for the next 5 years to reduce his housing expenses.

With the money he saves, he will make a series of investments so that very soon he will not need to work at all and live off the profits from his investments.
