Consumers face increased fuel prices ahead of Easter

On every holiday that involves travel, consumers are usually concerned about how expensive the fuel will be.

Safe predictions cannot be made about where fuel prices will reach this Easter, but based on the latest data, the average petrol price is €1.57 per litre and is expected to rise in the coming days. Fuel prices differ not only in each city but also in each province, with the highest price touching €1.729 per litre for unleaded petrol with 98 octane and is located in Paphos.

According to the Consumer Protection Service’s Fuel Price Observatory, the average prices nationwide for unleaded petrol with 95 octane are €1.574, the lowest is €1.505, and the highest price nationwide is €1.623.

Specifically, the lowest average price for unleaded petrol with 95 octane is €1.563 per litre in the Nicosia province, and the highest is €1.589 per litre in the Paphos province.

For unleaded petrol with 98 octane, the lowest price nationwide is €1.569 and is located in the Nicosia province, the average price is €1.648, and the highest price is €1.729 in the Paphos province.

The lowest diesel price is €1.544 per litre and is located in the Nicosia province, and the highest price is €1.649 per litre and is located in the Limassol province. The average price is €1.604.

It is worth noting that the reduction measure of the fuel consumption tax, which has been applied for several months as compensation for the increased energy costs and the burden on consumers, was abolished on April 1st.

The government’s decision to abolish this measure resulted in an increase of 8.3 cents per litre in the price of automotive fuels and 6.4 cents per litre in the price of heating oil.
