Total car sales observed a drop of 8.6% year on year in the period of January – May 2019 declining to 19,682 from 21,526 in the respective period of 2018, the Cyprus Statistical Service said on Monday.
According to the data, saloon car sales marked a reduction of 10.4% declining to 16,078 from 17,947 in January – May last year.
New car sales in the first five months of 2019 amounted to 7,314 recording a reduction of 12.5% compared to 8,363 in the respective period 2018, whereas used car sales dropped by 6% to 12,368 from 13,163 in January – May 2018.
In May, total car sales amounted to 4,340 marking a reduction of 5,40% compared to 4,588 in May of last year, Cystat added.
