Two Super Post-Panamax cranes arrive at Limassol port

Two Super Post-Panamax cranes bought by Eurogate arrived at Limassol port on Tuesday morning, as the operator of the container terminal moves to upgrade its infrastructure and the service offered.

The cranes were built in Italy and can service the world’s biggest ships, it said adding that their acquisition is part of Eurogate’s €30m investment programme.

Yiorgos Pouros, the operations manager of  Eurogate Container Terminal Limassol said the company aimed to have the cranes in operation as soon as possible. He said some time was needed for their installation and for the necessary checks to be carried out.

“With this acquisition,  Limassol’s container terminal will have nothing to envy other European ports and Eurogate will be in a position to offer even more upgraded services,” he said.

The new cranes will boost Eurogate’s efforts to offer quicker and higher quality service and to increase turnover at Limassol port the company said adding that its long-term objective is to promote Limassol port as a modern, transshipment port.
