MSC Shipmanagement Ltd has donated 106,000 surgical masks and 100,000 gloves to the Cyprus Government to assist in the fight against the coronavirus disease outbreak, the deputy ministry for shipping said on Monday as it thanked the company.

MSC Shipmanagement Ltd has been based in Limassol since 2008 and during the last years has significantly expanded its activities in Cyprus with over 230 vessels under its management and more than 200 people employed here.

MSC Shipmanagement Ltd has the deepest appreciation for all health workers who are on the frontline and fully supports the various measures implemented by the Cyprus Government to control the impact of this pandemic on the island.

It has implemented various preventive measures on board its managed ships and at its shore offices in Cyprus, India and Ukraine and other crewing agency offices since the beginning of January 2020 – in doing so, implementing one of the core values of the MSC Group.

“We Care For People” said Prabhat Jha, CEO and Group MD of MSC Shipmanagement Limited.

“Earlier last month, MSC also prioritized delivery of some important and urgently required container shipments containing chemicals required to produce disinfectants and sanitizers, by passing normal trade schedules and diverting vessels to Limassol port, in order to contribute to the local effort”.

The Shipping Deputy Ministry expressed its appreciation to MSC Shipmanagement Ltd for its generous donation and assistance in delivering necessary medical supplies to Cyprus, which will greatly contribute to the Government’s efforts to limit the spread of Covid-19.
