Drastic structural changes at ΜΤΝ

Relevant News

2019 is the year of drastic structural changes for MTN which is one of the largest telecommunications providers in Cyprus. And all this because of Monaco Telecom’s entry into MTN’s shareholding structure along with its new philosophy and operation practices.

Internal changes which seem to bear the stamp of the new shareholder include new operating systems and new unified tools which track a customer’s request from start to finish. As well as internal re-installation of the company’s call centre with those employees already undergoing intense training so as to offer customers the best possible service.

“We are changing everything,” Chief Executive Officer Thanos Chronopoulos told INSIDER. And he added: “We are expanding activities, upgrading our network and proposing innovative solutions to customers. All our efforts have the same goal which is to give consumers the opportunity to use modern technology in every possible way.”

MTN’s changes are under an approved business plan worth over €40 million. It also includes the installation of a sophisticated fast network with 10 times more capacity than the current one.

At the same time, expansion of the 4G network across the country is  ongoing and so is the expansion of 4.5G coverage in urban centers.

“Digital technology is radically changing our lives. The point is to do it on our own terms…Our goal is to allow customers to benefit from the modern digital world and to ‘unleash’ their capabilities in whatever way they want,” Chronopoulos also said.

MTN has recently announced a strategic partnership with China’s Huawei telecommunications giant.  This cooperation will put them in the advanced 5G global ecosystem and open the path for the technological future of Cyprus.
