BoC helps establish medical oncology chair at University of Cyprus

Thanks to an endowment from Bank of Cyprus, a new chair is being created at the University of Cyprus, the Medical Oncology Chair. At the same time, the university’s Finance Chair, established in 2000, will continue to operate. An agreement on the above was signed on January 21 by Professor Tasos Christofides, Rector of the University of Cyprus, and Michalis Persianis, Corporate Affairs Director at Bank of Cyprus.

In remarks, the University of Cyprus Rector noted that “the ongoing partnership between Bank of Cyprus and University of Cyprus, the premier institute of higher learning in research, is a testament to the tangible recognition of our work by the country’s largest financial organisation.”

For his part, Persianis expressed the hope that the partnership would continue and expand to other areas other than the university chairs currently financed by Bank of Cyprus
