Reduced by about 50% was the business in leisure centers at Easter, according to the President of the Panyprian Federation of Leisure Center Owners (OSIKA) Neophytos Thrasyvoulou.

In his statements, Mr. Thrasyvoulou also referred to the reduced tourist traffic because the Catholic Easter was earlier this year than the Orthodox Easter.

He also said that Cypriots preferred to spend the Easter holiday at family tables, he said.

Business at leisure centers is expected to increase, however, he estimated, today Easter Monday, and tomorrow.

The leisure centers, he continued, had “some” business during Holy Week by students who came to Cyprus to spend the Easter holidays with their families.

Responding to a question, Mr. Thrasyvoulou said that to his credit, the Minister of Labor has supported the Labor Department in granting work permits to people from third countries, noting that what they are requesting is that upon the departure of applicants for political asylum, immediately the professional in the sector will be permitted to bring in staff from third countries within a period of 20 to 30 days.

In addition, Mr. Thrasyvoulou referred to the problems of bureaucracy, adding that OSIKA is trying to reduce it.
