The British Bases have confirmed that a member of the British Forces Cyprus community permanently based at RAF Akrotiri has tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total of cases within the British Bases to five.
The individual is currently in self-isolation and is displaying only mild symptoms, a British Bases spokesman said.
“British Forces Cyprus continues to align with the Republic of Cyprus as we respond to this illness together,” the spokesman added.
The statement came a little after the Health Ministry announced 17 new cases in Cyprus, including that in the British Bases, bringing the total to 179.
