Relevant News

Cyprus will continue to bake in the sweltering heat on Wednesday, with temperatures set to rise to 41 C inland and 32 C in the mountains.

The hot weather prompted the met office to issue a new yellow alert for Wednesday valid from 11 am to 5 pm.

On Tuesday the Labour Ministry warned of the possibility of a severe heat wave because of the hot temperatures and high humidity and urged employers to take all measures to ensure employees do not suffer heat stress.

Temperatures on Tuesday hit 41 C in Nicosia,  38 C in Paralimni,  36 C in Limassol,  35 C in Larnaca, 32 C in Paphos,  34 C in Polis and 31C in Prodromos. Humidity ranged from 75% in Paphos to 20% in Nicosia.

Today will be mainly fine with temperatures rising to 41 C inland, 35 C on the south, east and north coast and 32 C on the west coast and mountains. There will be localised increased clouds in the afternoon.

Thursday will be fine, with local increased clouds. Friday and Saturday will be initially fine with increased cloud in the afternoon which could lead to isolated showers, particularly in the mountains and inland.

Temperatures will edge down on Thursday, remaining unchanged on Friday and Saturday close to the average for the time of year.
