Police said on Friday that a total of 2305 drivers had been breathalised in the first two weeks of July, with 221 of them found to be driving over the limit.
The checks are part of police efforts to prevent and reduce road fatalities.
It said that in addition a total of 2,342 drivers had been reported for speeding and another 4,115 for other traffic offences.
