House passes bill ending banning of dogs from beaches

The Green party announced on Friday that the House passed a bill they proposed in 2014 terminating the arbitrary banning of dogs from Cyprus beaches.

This means in effect that dog owners are now legally allowed to go to the beach together with their furry friends, although dogs are still excluded from beaches with bathers and beaches in protected nature zones.

“At a difficult time, we managed this small win for us and our loyal friends. Although amendments to our bill by Akel and Disy greatly altered the philosophy of our proposal, we maintain that the unjust arbitrary ban of dogs from beaches has been lifted,” the party concluded.
