Hotel staff will gather on Tuesday at 11 am, outside the Ministry of Finance to protest a proposed bill that removes existing employment protection provisions.
The proposed bill will remove existing provisions in the current legislation, which obliges hotels to employ a sufficient number of employees of all specialties and regulates their employment conditions.
At the same time, a new provision is introduced which allows the rental or sublease of hotels, such as restaurants and bars, to third parties, not in the hotel business.
“The proposed amendment was forwarded without first consulting the trade union movement,” the announcement adds.
The event will be attended by the General Secretaries of PEO and SEK, Pambis Kyritsis and Andreas Matsas, respectively. A march towards the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Labour and the House of Representatives fill follow.
