Health officers on Tuesday will go to a Strovolos Municipality area where dumped clinical waste including piles of used coronavirus rapid test kits have been spotted.
The waste was camouflaged in a riverbed in the Nicosia suburb of Strovolos and spotted by a passerby who posted a photo on social media.
Philenews also reported that the health officers will try to track those who carried out the dumped rapid tests.
And they hope evidence found will lead them to the tracking of those responsible for the disposal of the clinical waste.
Tens of thousands of rapid tests are carried out daily in Cyprus by rapid mobile units contracted by the government.
This is part of efforts to monitor and contain the coronavirus outbreak.
Companies awarded contracts to carry out these tests must also enter into agreements with specialist companies to dispose of the waste.
A yellow bag normally given by a specialist company to rapid testers was also found in the area.
Based on this, and the batch number of the boxes, authorities are trying to identify who was involved.
The waste found is of a brand of rapid test that was last used in January, suggesting that the waste may have been dumped some time ago.
