A special allowance will be given to about 13,000 pupils in primary and secondary schools who are normally eligible to be offered breakfast at school, the Education Ministry said on Saturday.
The breakfast is co-financed with funds from the EU and the allowance is for March and April.
The ministry said this will ensure continued support to children in need during these particularly difficult times.
Schools have been closed for several weeks. Final year secondary school pupils are due back on May 11 with strict distancing rules while the Education Ministry has said it is working on the operation of other classes but no dates have been given.
