Get ready for this year’s mushroom festivities!
Kyriakides Mushrooms and the community of Spilia present the 4th Annual Mushroom Festival! In the picturesque mountain of Troodos, among the pine trees and our beautiful forests, the small community of Spilia has established an annual festival dedicated to the mushrooms!
This year the Mushroom Festival will be so mush bigger and better than ever before, in a huge, multi-level space. Get ready to witness big things and bigger crowds!
The 2-day fest will take place over the weekend of November 19/20, two days filled with wonderful activities, mouth-watering delicacies and big surprises all day long!
On Saturday morning, around 11:00 you will let your inner chef loose and slice and dice and prepare a tonne of mushrooms (literally!) for the mushroom surprise that will ensue.
Throughout the day children will be entertained at the kid’s corner with bouncing castles, face painting, treasure hunts around the village and other educational activities.
The Cyprus Chef Association will prepare exquisite mushroom delicacies – street-food style – such as mushroom gyros, mushroom soup, bao-buns and delicious mushroom pasta! You will also be able to enjoy wonderful drinks, and take part in traditional dancing and singing and many, many more!
On Saturday there will also be the main event! The Kyriakides team is aiming to squash the World Record for the biggest serving of sauteed mushrooms, using a whopping 1000 kilo of mushrooms in a gigantic saucepan with a diameter of 4m! Yes, you read that right! It is as wide as the height of two basketball players standing one on top of the other!!
In the afternoon of both days, there will be a forest walk in order to learn how to gather wild mushrooms and respect nature at the same time.
