Electricity prices will keep rising if the market does not open up to other energy sources and the dependence on petroleum continues, Cyprus Wind Energy Association said.
The Association’s board met yesterday with House president, Demetris Syllouris to discuss alternative energy sources and ways to lower electricity prices.
The Association mentioned that there are significant weaknesses in the current state scheme for promoting renewable energy sources and delays in licensing. These might lead to creating a private monopoly in the long-term, they said.
They added that electricity prices will keep rising as, although the market will open for alternative energy sources, it will only be a transitional phase and more concrete actions are needed.
