A 30 year old non-Cypriot permanent resident of Mesogi, Paphos was fined €25,000 after police discovered a large quantity of duty free tobacco and cigarettes in his possession.
The man was stopped by Paphos traffic police on Sunday who discovered 80 packets of cigarettes and 12.5 kilos of tobacco in his car. He also had €2,640 in his possession, reportedly from the sale of tobacco products.
During a subsequent search of his home, police discovered another 114 cartons of cigarettes and 1 gram of cannabis.
He was fined by customs for the duty free tobacco which was confiscated, as was the cash and he was arrested for the small quantity of cannabis in his possession.
