Driver caught doing 180 km, tests positive for drugs

Police last night stopped a 48 year old man who was speeding at 180 km per hour on the Nicosia-Limassol highway where the speed limit is 100 km.

The man also tested positive for drugs.

Frustrated, police said that they have already made two announcements that they are carrying out a campaign against speeding this week, yet some people were continuing to turn a deaf ear, endangering not only their own lives but those of others on the roads.

“As police we would like to stress once more that the road network demands a road awareness, education and respect for other users who have the right to be able to use the roads of Cyprus safely,” an official announcement said.
