Yesterday’s case of a 17-year-old escaping from the Kokkinotrimithia police station (he was arrested within the next hour) fatally took our account of the Law that established child-friendly criminal justice.
As of 2021, the legislation was passed, but we don’t have suitable detention facilities for minors, or qualified “juvenile officers”.
This role was temporarily taken over by police officers with fast-paced seminars. The recent job advertisement for juvenile probation officers was met with failure, as no suitable persons were found.
