Current events in the church are neither unprecedented nor should they lead anyone to extreme reactions such as falling off their clouds. They are timeless practices and actions that have been repeated throughout the centuries.
Just as it is not today that the wheel is being discovered, so the exploitation of religion for purposes other than those it should serve is not a current phenomenon but goes back centuries.
The church, throughout the centuries, has moved on two axes: compassion and exploitation. It did this a thousand years ago, two hundred years ago, fifty years ago, and it does it today.
