Health experts in Cyprus are calling on the government to take the drastic national decision for the immediate roll out of a Covid-19 vaccine booster shot.
And to stop waiting for the recommendation by the European disease control and pharmaceutical authorities which seem to be dragging their feet on this, Philenews reports.
Health experts point out that the booster shots should be rolled out from September onwards with the elderly and vulnerable ones having priority.
“It is imperative that we re-erect a wall of protection for these people,” one of the members of the scientists advising the government on Covid-19 told Philenews.
“Some 20% had received both doses of the vaccine last January, and this gives us a clear indication that a booster shot is necessary and beyond any doubt,” he added.
