Cyprus has expressed extreme concern over alarming political developments in Afghanistan.
In a post on its Twitter account the Foreign Ministry in Nicosia said: “Extremely concerned by developments unfolding rapidly in Afghanistan.
“Ensuring calm, safety & non-discrimination against women & girls must be amongst immediate priorities.”
Moreover, it noted: “We are in coordination with EU partners with a view to rendering #humanitarian assistance as necessary.”
The Taliban seized Afghanistan‘s capital, Kabul, on Sunday, prompting the United States and other countries to evacuate their citizens and diplomats.
