Greek Orthodox faithful in Cyprus took to their balconies and gardens at midnight for the Christos Anesti.
With a lockdown in force and all members of the public prohibited from attending church services, these were broadcast on the radio and TV and on the internet.
In his Easter circular, Archbishop Chrysostomos said that the compulsory absence from church will make our faith and our prayers event stronger so that once the illness is over, congregations and clergy can together praise the Lord in church.
