Cyprus MPs Demetris Demetriou (Head of the Cyprus delegation), Nikos Kettiros and Elias Myrianthous attended on Tuesday an online meeting of the EUROPOL Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group.
Kettiros spoke about cybercrime during the pandemic and noted that as regards sex crimes against minors there was an increase during the pandemic pointing out that the EC should come up with a strategy for the protection of private life and personal data and the effective investigation of such crimes.
He also spoke of the need to establish a cooperation and collaboration with third countries and NGOs.
Myrianthous spoke about online finance crimes and frauds saying that it jeopardizes the democracy and financial unity of the EU and said that the new online challenges underline the need for more effective use of EU`s funds to this end.
He also said that the reports on the rule of law in various member states include recommendations that should be followed.
