Ilona Garamvolgyi

Make-up artist, Ilona Garamvolgyi introduces us to her favourite spots for coffee, food and drinks in Limassol and Nicosia.

-Where do you usually enjoy your morning coffee?

-Altough I don’t often drink coffee, I like hanging out at Starbcucks with a Toffenut latte.

-Which is your favorite city yard?

-When the weather is nice, I like sitting at my balcony reading a book and enjoying the sun.

-Where can you find the best souvlaki?

-At Maria S. “Marathovounos,” the best souvlakia in Lakatamia.

-Favorite shop in your neighborhood?

-My shop on Makariou Avenue, which will soon be renewed and will get a new look!

-Could you reveal a well-hidden city gem?

-I have many well-kept secrets but I prefer to keep them for the two people I trust. Myself and I!

-A restaurant that holds a special place in your heart? A recommended dish?

-Moon Lounge Bar and the japanese Tokio restaurant-bar in Limassol. Great dishes, inspired by Asian cuisine.  I always order the Makimono platter.

-Which is your favorite kind of cuisine and where you can enjoy it in Cyprus?

-I am a fan of Italian cuisine. I find very good past and pizza at La Boca in Limassol.

-The best place to hang out with friends?

-I always liked the central Starbucks in Nicosia. Now I go there with my child and we sit there for hours, watching cartoons.

-Where could you find the best cocktails?

-I rarely go out and drink alcohol now but when Tiago makes sangria at home, I can’t resist!

-Where do you usually find delightful sweets? 

-The desserts at Pralina Experience on Stasikratous are irresistible.

-Which place do you remember fondly?

-I’ll never forget the summers in Protaras, one of the island’s best places.
