PR & Media expert in Cal Creative Communication reveals her favourite spots for food, coffee and drinks in the city.
-Where do you usually enjoy your morning coffee?
-Undoubtedly in my bed! My next choice is Cito Gourmet Express in the centre of Nicosia. I love its coffees, its tastes and the politeness of its people. Politeness is one of the first things I look for in a shop and in people, in general.
-Which is your favourite city yard?
-I miss yards and I’d really like it if more existed. Beba’s yard is one of the ones I like and it is great at nights.
-Where can you find the best souvlaki?
-At Mezostrati. They are always great, always in the same quality.
-Where do you find authentic meze dishes?
-At Mezostrati and Zanettos.
-Favourite shop in your neighbourhood?
-It’s not exactly in my neighbourhoods but I pass from there often to buy supplies. Bavarian Delicatessen is really a place worth to visit, over and over again.
-Could you reveal a well-hidden city gem?
-Meres bookshop at the heart of old Nicosia. A must for Saturday mornings before a Mango Bellini and brunch at DOT.
-A restaurant that holds a special place in your heart? A recommended dish?
-My favourite restaurants are scattered in Athens, London, Rome, Paris and the Greek islands. In Nicosia you will often see met at Skinny Fox. There’s no way I won’t order the Moroccan salad.
-Which is your favourite kind of cuisine and where you can enjoy it in Cyprus?
-I love Japanese cuisine, which I enjoy often at Nippon in Larnaca.
-The best place to hang out with friends?
-Salomi’s tavern in Ayios Tychonas, Limassol.
-Where could you find the best cocktails?
-In Nicosia, you will find great cocktails at Skinny Fox. I hope it’s not worrying but I think I tried all of them!
-Where do you usually find delightful sweets?
-At Novikov in Mayfair, where the food and the desserts are out of this world. The Nutela cheesecake served with cherry sorbet will win any chocolate fan over. Also, the tiramisu I tried last month in a great trattoria in Rome, named Tonnarello, was simply a dream.
-Which place do you remember fondly?
-My most beautiful memories have to do with people. Many of those have Paphos as a background, which I love for many different reasons.
