Journalist Charis Papatheodorou reveals his favourite spots for food, coffee and drinks in Cyprus.

-Where do you usually enjoy your morning coffee?

-I usually enjoy my morning coffee at the office, however on weekends you will find me at Starbucks.

-Which is your favorite city yard?

-My favourite yard in the city is Yiayia Victoria at the centre of Nicosia.

-Where can you find the best souvlaki?

-I am very lucky as Marios in my neighbourhood in Strovolos makes the best souvlakia.

-Where do you find authentic meze dishes?

-I believe that Zanettos has been making, for years now, the best meze.

-Favorite shop in your neighborhood?

-I recently moved from Strovolos where my parent’s home is to Aglantzia and I discovered Chris Pizza in Geri. I am crazy about their Cyprus pizza.

-Could you reveal a well-hidden city gem?

-I will tell you but let’s keep it between us. Caprise: Chocolate & Nuts.

-A restaurant that holds a special place in your heart? A recommended dish?

-Mouson at the city centre. My favourite dish is the salmon with sweet potato.

-Which is your favorite kind of cuisine and where you can enjoy it in Cyprus?

-I am a 100% Cypriot. The best place with the best food is my mother’s kitchen. Andri’s koupepia and makaronia tou fournou are incomparable.

-The best place to hang out with friends?

-Marinoparea in Zygi, great ice creams, sweets and the sea at your feet.

-Where could you find the best cocktails?

-I think you all know that the best cocktail is at Skinny Fox.

-Where do you usually find delightful sweets? 

-At San Remo. It’s there where I do my sins with sweets.

-Which place do you remember fondly?

-Like most people, I will say Protaras and Ayia Napa. It’s where I went for holidays for the first time with my friends and we went out until the morning and enjoyed our youth. Still, in the summer we’ll always go for a few days in those parts of the island.
